How Does the Gorilla Habituation Experience Work?

What Is the Weather Like in Uganda?

Uganda enjoys a generally pleasant tropical climate and lies along the Equator. The weather can change quickly, so you should be prepared for both sunshine and rain. Light, breathable clothing is ideal for most safari days, while a warm layer is useful for cool mornings and evenings. If you plan to climb high-altitude mountains such as the Rwenzori Mountains, Mount Elgon or other major peaks, significantly warmer clothing will be necessary.

Rainy periods commonly occur around:

Is It Safe to Swim in Uganda’s Lakes and Rivers?

Exercise caution when swimming in Uganda’s natural water bodies. Not every lake or river is suitable for swimming, and some may contain parasites or other health hazards. If you want to swim during your trip, use designated swimming facilities at reputable hotels or confirm the safety of a specific natural swimming location with your safari operator or local authorities.

Lake Bunyonyi and Lake Mutanda are popular destinations where swimming is commonly enjoyed, but conditions and local guidance should always be checked.
