Day 1: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park
After breakfast, travel south westwards to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park with a mini stop at the Equator for photography and a lunch stop later on in Mbarara. Your long journey to Bwindi will reward you with sights of the Ankole long-horned cattle and the fascinating scenery of the rolling hills of the Kigezi region. Arrive in Bwindi in the evening for dinner and an overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp/ Volcanoes Bwindi Camp/Mantana Tented Camp (Luxury)/ Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp (mid-range)/Buhoma Community Campsite/Bandas (Budget)
Day 2: Gorilla trekking and community walk
After an early breakfast, report to the park headquarters with your packed lunch for a briefing from the senior park ranger guide at the park headquarters. At 8.30 set off for the gorilla tracking safari in the impenetrable forest. A search for the habituated gorilla family is not predictable; you may take between 2 hours and a full day searching for these apes within this dense forest.
You are guaranteed one hour for observing and taking photographs of these beautiful apes once you catch up with them. Have a dinner and an overnight at Gorilla Forest Camp/ Volcanoes Bwindi Camp/Mantana Tented Camp (Luxury)/ Lake Kitandara Bwindi Camp (mid-range)/Buhoma Community Campsite/Bandas (Budget)
Day 3: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park
After breakfast, you will depart for Queen Elizabeth National Park, located in western Uganda, arriving in time for Lunch at Buffalo Safari resort. This will be followed by a short relaxation and an evening game drive in the savannah plains of Kasenyi, where wild animals like buffaloes, elephants, antelopes and big cats such as lions and leopards can be spotted depending on your luck. Return to your lodge for overnight. Overnight stay at Mweya safari lodge / Katara Lodge/ Park
Day 4: Full day at Queen Elizabeth National Park
In the morning, enjoy a game drive to the northern sector of the park – Kasenyi plains in search of leopards and lions. As you drive along Kasenyi track, expect to encounter big herds of elephants, buffalo, Uganda Kobs, warthogs, Defassa waterbuck, bushbuck and giant forest hogs among others.
Return to the lodge for a hot lunch before undertaking a launch cruise along the Kazinga Channel at 2:00 pm. The launch experience will bring you closer to big herds of elephants, hippos and a plethora of migrant and endemic birds, among others. At 6:00 pm, return to the lodge for your dinner and relaxation.
Day 5: Transfer back to Kampala
After breakfast, you will return to Kampala with unforgettable memories of this trip. Have lunch along the way and also stop by the equator to take some photographs. Arrive in Kampala late in the afternoon and head to your hotel to unwind after the long drive from the western countryside. Dine and slumber at Hotel Africana or at Serena Hotel.
