Responsible Travel At Amethyst Wild Safaris

Travel with Purpose. Explore with Respect. Leave a Positive Impact.

At Amethyst Wild Safaris, we believe that travel should do more than create unforgettable memories—it should make a positive difference. Every safari is an opportunity to protect wildlife, support local communities, preserve cultural heritage, and conserve the natural beauty of East Africa for future generations.

Responsible travel is at the heart of everything we do at Amethyst World Safaris. From the partners we work with to the experiences we design, we are committed to ensuring that your journey contributes positively to the people, wildlife, and places you visit.

OUR COMMITMENT TO RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

Our mission is to create authentic safari experiences while promoting sustainable tourism practices that benefit both visitors and host communities

5% of the company’s profits is allocated at implementing community improvement projects in areas surrounding national parks so as to achieve sustainable conservation, improving livelihoods, reducing human-wildlife conflict, and promoting inclusive socio-economic development. Communities living adjacent to protected areas often bear the direct costs of conservation while receiving limited benefits. Strategic community interventions help create a balanced relationship between conservation goals and human wellbeing, When you travel with Amethyst Wild Safaris, you become part of this commitment.

CARING FOR OUR ENVIRONMENT

As a responsible tour operator, we continuously seek ways to reduce our environmental footprint by  promoting environmentally friendly practices among our partners, supporting conservation awareness that promote human and animal co-existence, Uganda and East Africa are home to some of the world’s most remarkable wildlife, including mountain gorillas, chimpanzees, elephants,  climbing lions, giraffes, rhinos, and hundreds of bird species. We are therefore committed to wildlife conservation, tree planting campaigns

TREE PLANTING

We offer our clients the chance to plant a tree in our forest or elsewhere. This goes some way to off-setting the carbon emissions from their travel. They can check the progress of their tree on their next visit

SUPPORTING SCHOOLS AND LOCAL COMMUNITIES

Tourism has the power to transform lives. That is why we work closely with local communities, community-based tourism initiatives, artisans, guides, farmers, and locally owned accommodation providers.

We visit schools in rural communities to offer cultural exchange and work together to fund projects through donations. By visiting these underfunded communities on our tours, our travelers can bring along school supplies and we can directly donate to where it’s needed to make a real difference. Our passion is to rehabilitate poor schools in rural communities, contributing to huge infrastructure improvements, and sponsoring critically vulnerable children to access education

Your safari helps to support women and youth-owned businesses especially bee keeping social ventures for communities surrounding parks to create alternative sources of livelihood apart from poaching and tree planting in the park

We encourage our guests to engage with communities respectfully, learn about local traditions, and support local enterprises whenever possible in purchasing locally made crafts and products. Responsible tourism can provide meaningful economic opportunities while helping preserve cultural identity.

Development research

At Amethyst Wild Safaris, we also work with travellers in the category of visiting researchers or research teams who carry out research on any of the Sustainable Development goals or academic purposes. We work with them to get contacts, access to communities and organisations. We support them to obtain ethical clearance and research permits, arrange their transport and accommodation and contracting research assistants

School visits

To support cross-cultural awareness that create global citizenship, we also coordinate visitors who want to partner with Ugandan primary or secondary schools in East Africa and engage in community service activities in order to make a difference on top of wildlife safaris or traditional cultural experiences. The safety and comfort of your group are important to us and so all visits have full risk assessments in place and are accompanied by our staff.

SUPPORTING LOCAL BUSINESSES

Whenever possible, we prioritize working with locally owned businesses and service providers. This includes local safari guides, community-owned lodges, local restaurants, cultural performers, craft markets, small tourism enterprises

By supporting local businesses, more tourism income remains within the communities that make your safari possible, helping create jobs and strengthen local economies.

RESPONSIBLE TRAVEL STARTS WITH YOU

Every traveller has the power to make a positive difference. During your safari, we encourage you to carry a reusable water bottle, avoid purchasing products made from endangered wildlife, support local artisans, respect wildlife and natural habitats, travel with patience and kindness, follow your guide’s instructions at all times and leave only footprints and take home unforgettable memories.

TOGETHER WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE

At Amethyst Wild Safaris, we believe that the best safaris are those that leave a lasting impact—not only on the traveller but also on the destinations visited.

By choosing to travel responsibly, you help protect East Africa’s incredible wildlife, empower local communities, preserve cultural heritage, and ensure these extraordinary places can be enjoyed by generations to come.

Travel Responsibly. Explore Authentically. Protect Nature. Empower Communities.

Together, let’s create journeys that matter.
